Product details for Goats & Tigers

Rooted in village traditions from India and Nepal (where it is known as Aadu Puli Aattam and Bagh-Chal), the game of Goats & Tigers offers a rare alternative to the familiar logic of Western chess. Unlike symmetrical war games built around equal armies and domination, Goats & Tigers is intentionally asymmetrical. One player controls a small number of powerful tigers, able to hunt goats by leaping over them. The other commands a herd of goats, whose strength lies not in individual power but in cooperation, coordination, and collective restraint.

This design celebrates that philosophy visually. Whether you see it as a metaphor for underdog resistance, community resilience, or the balance between force and cooperation, the poster rewards contemplation as much as competition. Hang it as a an artwork and bring it out as a playable game, sparking conversation about different ways societies have imagined power, conflict, and collaboration.

Goats & Tigers is more than a game. It’s a reminder that intelligence, patience, and collective action can outplay raw power.

What’s included?

Goats & Tigers is supplied as a stand alone A3 poster and does not include player pieces. This keeps things simple and reduces the environmental impact of providing unnecessary items.
